Minister, reader, and occasional wanderer.
This is my own patch of the internet — part study, part campfire. I’m a Uniting Church minister in Adelaide, and most weeks you’ll find me somewhere between a lectionary reading, a stack of books, and a few too many open tabs. This site is where the preaching, the reading, and the rest of it live together.
Please note that this site is currently being run through an AI slop machine (Claude). Also, one of those little disclaimers – nothing on here is official UCA speak, so ya know, don’t be silly with it.
This week
Sunday 23 August 2026 — 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Preaching
Exodus 1:8-2:10 — Shiphrah and Puah
Galatians 4:21-30 — Hagar and Sarah
This week’s Monday Prep — the reading, the commentary I’ve leaned on, and where my thinking is heading before Sunday.
Worship Leading
This week’s Sunday Toolkit
Song ideas, prayers, and the practical bits for whoever is shaping this Sunday’s service. Being built out at the moment — it’ll fill in as the week goes on.
Looking further ahead? The next few Sundays are lined up on the Preaching page.
From the Shelf
Holding the Man
Timothy Conigrave
A beloved, devastating Australian memoir of Conigrave’s fifteen-year relationship with John Caleo, from their schooldays at a Melbourne Catholic boys’ school through to both men’s deaths from AIDS-related illness in the 1990s. Conigrave finished the manuscript days before he died; it was published posthumously in 1995 and later adapted into an acclaimed 2015 film.
Pulled at random from the 1,125 on my shelf. (No cover image this week — the cover-lookup service couldn’t be reached.)
